Cutting Edge Comms is a communications consulting firm which provides clients from all different sectors exceptional communications and public relations assistance.
The Cutting Edge team has years of experience working for and with presidential administrations, nonprofit organizations, religious groups, United States presidential, senatorial and congressional campaigns, cabinet members, and elected officials.
How We Got Started
Cutting Edge Comms was founded by Lydia Blaha Valdiviezo and James Hutton in order to provide communications consulting services to people in all areas of professionalism. Blaha Valdiviezo and Hutton met while working as political appointees during a presidential administration. Each brings a unique set of diverse and broad skills to the firm.
Years after going their separate ways, Blaha Valdiviezo invited Hutton to a coffee shop right outside of Washington, DC. While there, Blaha Valdiviezo asked Hutton to partner with her in her endeavor to begin her own communications consulting firm, knowing his decades in communications leadership would greatly benefit clients. Hutton quickly agreed and thus -- Cutting Edge Comms was born!

Succeeding her time as a political appointee in the Trump Administration, Lydia Blaha-Valdiviezo led the communications and messaging departments for several non-profits, two of which focused on combating global persecution and the third concentrating its efforts on shining a light on the dangers of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
James Hutton

In 2019, James Hutton was appointed by President Donald J. Trump to be the Assistant Secretary of Public and Intergovernmental affairs at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Hutton oversaw the elements of public affairs, including, media relations, digital media engagement, outreach, internal information, and field operations nationwide.
